Citizen Activist pt 1: a Zine

Racist Rhetoric in the Media and what we as citizens can do about it.

There has been outraging racist rhetoric accompanying much coverage of the Russian war in Ukraine, and the journalists involved are violating article 9 of the IFJ Charter on Ethics (2019). This has to stop! As a citizen, your voice matters - write LETTERS to the journalists to point out their violation and invite them for a drink to engage in dialogue about anti-discrimination. If, on the other hand, a journalist has done really great anti-discriminatory work, write them (and their editors) a postcard to congratulate them.

I’ve put together a Zine that you can download here (see images below), which includes article 9 mentioned above, 5 easy steps to be a citizen activist, and a postcard you can cut out and get started. Print out on 250g A4 paper, cut into A5 and fold into A6 (postcard size) and disseminate! - in your school, uni, workplace!

Your voice matters.
